Conscious Evolution Media Presents “The Heart of Art with Elisa Brown” — a show that explores the efficacy of art to shape society. The Heart of Art features enlightening, intimate and entertaining live performances and conversations with world-established artists from around the globe. Each episode spotlights artists who intentionally create works of art – music, dance, visual and the spoken word – that merge with the viewer’s heartfelt experience of the subject matter at hand, provoking a positive outcome in the viewer’s life, be it philosophical, political, social, economic, religious, inspirational or personal well-being.

Episode Three of The Heart of Art with Elisa Brown focuses on the art and artistry of playwright Catherine Filloux, an award-wining French-American playwright and opera librettist who has been writing about human rights and social justice for over 20 years. Ms. Filloux’s works have been produced around the world.

 

Part 1 features readings and performances of Ms. Filloux’s plays and operas dealing with immigration, genocide, and discrimination. Guest artists include internationally distinguished directors/playwrights Ian Strasfogel and Jean Randich, and human rights proponent, Jan. H. Brown.

 

Part 2 delves into Ms. Filloux’s works on Cambodia during the brutal regime of the Khmer Rouge. Guest artists include actors Michelle Ang and Jose Gamo, and Smot Chanter Sreypov Phoeun. Smot Chanting is a 5th century art form central to Theravada Buddhism.

Episode Two of The Heart of Art with Elisa Brown highlights the extraordinary talents of world-renowned guitar virtuoso, composer, conductor and humanitarian, Virginia Luque. A private student of musical legend, guitarist Andres Segovia from the age of 11, Ms. Luque performs several solo guitar pieces throughout the show that attest to her exquisite musicianship and artistry. Ms. Luque also discusses the mission behind her decision to turn her considerable talents towards philanthropy as founder of Music for Life NYC (MFLNYC), a non-profit organization dedicated to humanitarian relief and cultural outreach through the musical arts, and Director and Conductor of MFLNYC’s musical arm, The New York Women’s Ensemble (NYWE). Guest artist Lauren Ausubel, NYWE’s principal flutist, joins Ms. Brown and Ms. Luque in duet and trio performances of beloved compositions from the Classical Latin and Spanish repertoire.

The premiere episode of The Heart of Art with Elisa Brown is a showcase of live performances and interviews with key members of the artistic team behind the creation of the transformational theatrical spectacular, “Shine On New World”. The theme of this original multimedia production is universal: Music has the power to soften the hardest human heart. Guests include Grammy award-winning producer, Barry Goldstein; internationally renowned choreographer, Gabriel Chajnik; award-winning playwright, Marla Mase; audio/visual guru, Mark Smith; Celtic guitarist, Simeon Hein; and celebrated dancer, Jessica Black.
